- Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has now maneged 13 games against Jose Mourinho, still looking for his first victory (D6, L7). I am Alex Moretto and I would like to thank you all for joining me here today. Good bye!
-
FULL TIME: ARSENAL 0-0 CHELSEA. For the third time in four seasons, these two sides settle for a scoreless draw at the Emirates. The Blues will feel hard done by as they had two valid appeals for a penalty turned aside in the first half, but the Gunners were the far more positive side after the break, though had little to show for it. The draw means Chelsea are just six points away from securing the title, with five games remaining.
-
90' + 5'Yellow CardMonreal
-
90' + 5'Monreal picks up a yellow card to prevent a break and that should just about do it. We've had more than the four minutes of stoppage time.... and there goes the final whistle!
-
90' + 4'Into the fourth and final minute of stoppage time here and Chelsea make their final substitution, allowing more time to run off the clock. Cuadrado comes on, but it's hardly a tactical switch from Mourinho as it is a time waster.
-
90' + 3'SubstitutionWillian Juan Cuadrado
-
90' + 3'Yellow CardSanti Cazorla
-
90' + 2'WHAT A CHANCE! Sanchez does well to slide Monreal through on the left, who then plays a teasing ball across the face of goal. Ozil fails to direct it goalwards from six-yards out and then a slight deflection takes it through the legs of Welbeck!
-
90'SubstitutionCesc Fàbregas Kurt Zouma
Mourinho makes his second change and it's Kurt Zouma who will come on to help see out the draw. Fabregas is the man to give way and he gets a very mixed reception from his former fans, though the boos did seem to drown out the cheers as he takes an awfully long time to make his way off the pitch. -
89'Yellow CardAaron Ramsey
Ramsey picks up the second Arsenal yellow card, but it's a good one for him to take as he wraps his arm around Hazard to prevent a quick break. -
88'The Blues are running tirelessly off the ball as they are really making Arsenal work to try and get forward in attack. Space is proving incredibly hard to come by and Chelsea are doing an excellent job of containing the ball in midfield, suffocating Arsenal as they cross the halfway line.
-
86'Chelsea have not dropped points away from home in the Premier League since a 5-3 defeat at the hands of Tottenham on New Year’s Day. They have won five consecutive league matches on their travels since that drubbing, and while they would like to keep that run alive, a draw would be very beneficial to them as they could then wrap up the title by the end of the week.
-
84'SubstitutionOlivier Giroud Theo Walcott
HERE'S WALCOTT! It may be a bit too late from Wenger, as the pacey forward will have just over five minutes to try and make an impact. Giroud is off in his place, which likely means Welbeck will shift into the centre and take his place up top as the lone striker. -
83'The ensuing corner is collected by Courtois, who drops it as he goes to ground. There was no contact made with the keeper, but Oliver has called for a foul anyhow. Again, it's not the best decision by the referee as it prevents a real chance for the Gunners that would have ensued.
-
82'Great, direct play from Danny Welbeck! The substitute changes direction in the penalty area, creating a fraction of space for a shot. It takes a slight deflection, which troubles Courtois at the near post, as he just manages to knock it behind for a corner.
-
80'Bellerin's contributions in attack have been invaluable throughout and you get the sense that if Arsenal are to find a breakthrough, it will come via the right flank. Sanchez has drifted over in support, and it will likely be a busy final 10 minutes for Azpilicueta in defence.
-
78'Chelsea are showing every sign of sitting back and defending. The bus has been parked, for the most part, and it will be up to Arsenal now to try and change the outcome. It will take something truly special to breakdown this Mourinho defence, but they have to start by winning the ball back as Chelsea are playing keep-away in possession at the moment.
-
76'SubstitutionFrancis Coquelin Danny Welbeck
-
76'Ozil is starting to drift toward the left to offer Sanchez some much-needed support. The German is played through on the flank and sends an encouraging ball in, but Matic does well to intervene. The pressure stays on and the ball is worked to Cazorla inside the penalty area, but he drags a shot well wide of the far post. And here's the change, as Welbeck is set to come on in place of Coquelin.
-
74'STAT ATTACK: Arsenal have not scored in their last four meetings with Chelsea across all competitions, while conceding 10 times. The last Gunners goal against the Blues was scored by Theo Walcott in a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge in January 2013.
-
72'Yellow CardBranislav Ivanovic
-
72'Ivanovic becomes the third Chelsea player booked, this for a senseless challenge, sweeping the legs of Sanchez out from behind him. It was a needless intervention from the right-back, who could be in for a nerve-wracking final 20 minutes now as the Chilean will no doubt look to run at him from here on out.
-
71'Finally there are signs of life on the Arsenal bench as Welbeck and Wilshere are up and jogging along the touchline. Wenger may have waited a few minutes too long, however, as you really would have liked to see a couple of these substitutes get a lengthier go at trying to make their presence felt.
- 69'JUST WIDE! Courtois punches clear the ensuing free kick, but only as far as Mertesacker. The centre-half turns and tries to scoop a shot in at the near post with the keeper caught in no-man's land, but his effort rolls agonizingly wide.
-
68'Yellow Card Willian
-
68'HEAVY TOUCH! Much more encouraging, that, from Arsenal. Ozil and Ramsey work a nifty one-two atop the area and the German takes the return pass as he surges into the area. His final touch is a bit too strong, however, allowing Terry to rush across and make another vital intervention. Play continues and Willian gets his boot up into the face of Koscielny, which will earn him a yellow card.
-
66'There's the first contribution from Drogba, who has been very quiet up to this point, largely due to a lack of service. He's teed up for a shot atop the area, but his off-balanced effort is struck straight at Ospina, who gobbles that up like Sunday brunch.
-
64'The match has entered a bit of a cagey period, with Chelsea comfortable with slowing the pace and dictating the tempo in possession. Arsenal have to start going for it here, with much more to lose with a draw, which makes you wonder just how long Wenger will wait before he starts looking towards his bench for a much-needed change.
-
62'STAT ATTACK: It has been over a year – 21 matches to be exact (W15, D5, L1) – since Arsenal were held scoreless at the Emirates in a Premier League match (in a February 2014 draw against Manchester United).
-
60'The always reliable John Terry has had himself a positionally sound first hour in defence. His experience is proving invaluable to the Blues, while his composure has allowed him to marshall the back line with real authority up to this point.
-
58'Fabregas is finding himself very busy at both ends of the pitch, as he covers every blade of grass. It's been a bit sloppy from the Spaniard in possession, however, as a surprising lack of communication between him and Hazard continues to prevent Chelsea from carving out chances in attack.
-
56'Chelsea enjoy a good period of concentrated possession in attack, but after patiently awaiting an opening, they work it all the way back to their defence, which earns a loud chorus of boos from the home supporters. Ramsey works hard to pressure Willian and Chelsea wind up conceding possession before Sanchez wins a free kick in attack as Fabregas is penalized for a cheap foul.
-
54'Worrying moments here for Arsenal as Ospina is down after colliding with a teammate. Szczesny is up and stretching as the medical staff comes out to attend to the keeper, but the Colombian insists he is fine to continue on here.
-
52'STAT ATTACK: Chelsea have scored at least once in 19 consecutive Premier League matches, since a draw at Sunderland. The Black Cats are in fact the only team to hold the Blues scoreless this season across all competitions.
-
50'Dreadful! Sanchez plays a great ball to the left for Monreal, who is in acres of space. The left-back tries to play a first-time cross into the centre, which is exactly what Giroud was calling for, but he scuffs his delivery horribly as it sails behind harmlessly for a goal kick.
-
48'Chelsea have started the second half on the front foot, without really troubling the Arsenal back line, however. Drogba of course has assumed a spot up top, pushing Hazard into a more creative role behind the striker, while Ramires appears to have dropped a bit deeper here with Fabregas pushing up a bit.
-
46'SubstitutionOscarDidier Drogba
-
46'Here we go again! Oscar is off for the start of this second half, still feeling the effects of his collision with Ospina. He's actually on his way to the hospital right now to get checked. On in his place is Didier Drogba, who has a remarkable resume against Arsenal in his career.
-
Arsenal could turn to Theo Walcott as a viable option to bring on at some point in this second half. Ramsey is capable of the spectacular, but he has yet to really stamp his authority on the match, while the arrival of Walcott would provide some much needed width, not to mention a great injection of pace alongside Bellerin on the right.
-
HALF TIME: ARSENAL 0-0 CHELSEA. Both teams have some positives to draw upon from these opening 45 minutes, but the real storyline is the decision by Michael Oliver to deny the Blues two legitimate penalty claims. The Gunners ended the half positively, but it was the visitors who asked a few more questions going forward.
-
45'STRAIGHT AT COURTOIS! There it is again! Bellerin is making his presence felt as he continues to get forward in support. He picks up the ball and dances into the penalty area, but his ball across the face of goal is partially cleared, just ahead of Giroud's impending arrival. It comes out only as far as Ozil, who turns and fires at goal, but his right-footed attempt is sent straight into the waiting arms of Courtois.
-
43'It's looking like Arsenal's best route into attack will come via the right channel. Azpilicueta has shown a few signs of weakness in defence throughout this first half and the support from Willian has been lacking with Bellerin eager to get forward on the overlap.
-
41'Poor effort! Arsenal win a corner and Giroud does well to flick it on, but Mertesacker can't connect with it at the far post. The pressure stays on, however, and Sanchez makes a darting run into the area, but Fabregas does well defensively to force his off-balance shot well wide of the near post.
-
39'GREAT GOALKEEPING! Willian flashes his creative flare with a stunning ball through to pick out the run of Ramires in the centre. The Brazilian has the goal at his mercy, but Ospina does very well to get down and hold onto to the first-time shot, which did appear to be heading in at the far post.
-
37'You can sense the momentum beginning to shift to the hosts here. They would love nothing more than a goal before the half, but it will take something special to breakdown this Chelsea defence, who at times have eight blue shirts packed inside their own penalty area.
-
35'SPECTACULAR ONE-TOUCH PASSING! That's much more encouraging from the Gunners! Sanchez plays a ball through the air to pick out the run of Bellerin on the right, who volley's a sensational pass into the centre to tee up Cazorla. The Spaniard tries hit it first time, but Cahill dives in fearlessly to get a block in. It did strike him in the arm, but there was little he could do about that in such tight quarters.
-
34'Yellow Card Francis Coquelin
-
33'Oscar takes a pass and prances into the area, with options to either side. It's an encouraging move for the visitors, but the Brazilian is not nearly decisive enough, allowing Mertesacker to stand his ground and dispossess the midfielder. That should have at least resulted in a shot for Chelsea, who have been the far more threatening side in attack through the opening half-hour.
-
31'STAT ATTACK: Since Christmas Day, Arsenal have picked up 39 points in 15 Premier League matches (W13, L2), more than any other team in the top flight.
-
29'Giroud is lacking support in attack. The striker is using his big frame to win the ball in the air and hold it up, but these midfielders in support need to start making runs off the ball to give him an option. It's all a bit too straightforward at the moment for Chelsea in defence.
-
27'Arsenal had great width to their play in the early stages, feeding Sanchez the ball at every opportunity. They've strayed away from that, however, and are far too narrow at the moment, which is less than ideal to combat the Chelsea style of play. Matic is having himself a time in midfield, sniffing everything out as Arsenal try and force their way through to no avail.
-
25'Chelsea are doing an excellent job in congesting the midfield third, which at the moment is busier than a summer night on London's Oxford Street. They're daring Arsenal to try and pass their way through, but it's not happening for them at the moment as everything is forced to the outside.
-
23'Yellow Card Cesc Fàbregas
-
23'ANOTHER PENALTY APPEAL DENIED! Fabregas does very well to dance his way through midfield, arriving at the top of the area with Cazorla the last line of defence. The Spaniard sticks out a leg and takes out his countryman with a clear trip, but Michael Oliver awards a free kick in Arsenal's favour, booking Fabregas for simulation! It's a quite shocking decision from the referee, who has just denied Chelsea a second deserved penalty.
-
21'STAT ATTACK: Chelsea have played 20 matches in 2015 across all competitions, and have scored first in every single one of those games.
-
19'The Gunners have settled down after a chaotic few minutes, but they certainly have to be wary of that threat posed by Fabregas. The Spaniard picked the defence apart with one pass over the top from inside his own half, and Arsenal were nearly - or perhaps should have been - made to pay.
-
17'CONTROVERSY! A tremendous ball over the top from Fabregas is chased down by Oscar, who is played onside by Bellerin. The Brazilian gets through on goal and chips Ospina, who then takes out the midfielder with a strong challenge. The right-back does well to atone for his mistake by heading the effort clear off the line, but that very well could have been a penalty call on the keeper! Oliver lets it go and there we have our first big talking point of the match.
-
15'Arsenal keep the pressure on following a corner, with Koscielny and Ramsey linking up atop the area. Chelsea, as is usually the case, are so good at keeping their shape, making it very difficult on their opposition to find a way through. They will always have numbers back in defence, making it very important for Arsenal to remain patient in their build up and not grow frustrated with the lack of space made available to them in the final third.
-
13'The work rate of Ramires will be something to keep an eye on. The Brazilian is usually full of running in midfield and they will need that in a big way today as he is asked to provide some important defensive support for Ivanovic on Sanchez. He does well here to win a ball with a firm shoulder to shoulder challenge on Cazorla as the physicality continues to pick up.
-
11'STAT ATTACK: In the reverse fixture this season at Stamford Bridge, Arsenal failed to record a single shot on target in their 2-0 defeat. It was the first time the Gunners did not manage a shot on goal in a Premier League match since September of 2003.
-
9'Michael Oliver has his first big decision to make as Oscar goes down inside the penalty area. He immediately waves away claims and no more than a few seconds later, Ivanovic is penalized for a foul on Sanchez. In typical Chelsea fashion, Terry and the Serbian defender crowd the referee to prevent him from brandishing a card, while protesting the earlier non-call.
-
7'The Gunners have enjoyed a positive start to the match as they continue to poke and probe their way into attack. Alexis Sanchez has been especially busy early on. His latest foray sees him find a pocket of space and cut into the centre, before his shot takes a deflection and bounces behind for a corner.
-
5'DISAPPOINTING! Arsenal win a free kick in a threating position, from 25-yards out just to the left of goal. Caorla whips a good, flat ball in towards the near post, but his angle was somewhat off as it's collected easily by Courtois. That has to be delivered into a more central position, making the keeper work to claim it.
-
3'Arsenal really have nothing to lose today, and while Chelsea would be content with a draw, it would be nice to see both teams go for victory. The Blues have already shown their intent to make life difficult on the Gunners going forward, keeping plenty of bodies behind the ball in the early going.
-
1'Following a well-observed minute of silence for the Bradford City fire 30-years ago, the match is underway! Arsenal in red, Chelsea in blue.
-
Arsenal have an outside chance at catching Chelsea, but don't tell these fans that - the atmosphere inside the stadium is electric as the players take the pitch ahead of kick-off!
-
The war of words continued in the build-up to this match, with Arsene Wenger calling out Jose Mourinho’s often boring, but efficient tactics, saying: “It’s easy to defend.” The Portuguese boss replied quite wittily, shedding light on Arsenal’s Champions League defeat to Monaco, retorting: “It’s not easy. If it was, you wouldn’t lose 3-1 at home to Monaco.” The battle of wits has yet to cease since Mourinho’s return to the Premier League, but Wenger could get the upper hand with a win today – of course it would be short lived should Chelsea take care of business and clinch their fifth domestic league title in May.
-
It was slightly over a year ago when Jose Mourinho called out Arsene Wenger, referring to the Arsenal boss as a “specialist in failure” and then refused to apologize shortly after the fact. Karma came back to haunt the Chelsea manager, however, as the Gunners went on to win the FA Cup while the Blues finished the season without a new addition to their trophy case. Fast forward 14 months and the roles have reversed. Chelsea have a Capital One Cup trophy to their name and are just a couple of results away from securing the Premier League title. Arsenal are in the FA Cup final for a second year running, but you know Arsene Wenger wants to get these three points today and make life a bit uncomfortable for the Blues atop the table – at least for a few days.
-
In the surprising team news of the day, Jose Mourinho has opted to play with a false nine for the first time in quite a while. The manager decided not to risk the hamstring of Diego Costa, while Loic Remy remains out with a calf injury. Didier Drogba starts on the bench, with Eden Hazard playing up top in the false nine role, but the player of the year candidate should still prove to be a handful for the Arsenal defence. He is supported by Ramires and Willian on the wings, with the duo slotting into the starting lineup after starting on the bench in last weekend's victory over Manchester United.
-
Per Mertesacker was given a 50-50 of participating in the match after hobbling off injured in their FA Cup tie at Reading last weekend, but the German centre-half has recovered in time and partners Laurent Koscielny at the back. The same cannot be said for Mikel Arteta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who remain out, with the duo yet to recover from ankle and groin injuries respectively. Wenger has made a couple of changes to his side, however, bringing Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal in as wing-backs, replacing the two starters from their FA Cup victory, Mathieu Debuchy and Kieran Gibbs. Olivier Giroud is also back in up top, with Danny Welbeck relegated to the bench.
-
CHELSEA SUBS: Cech, Luis, Zouma, Drogba, Mikel, Cuadrado, Loftus-Cheek.
-
ARSENAL SUBS: Szczesny, Debuchy, Gibbs, Wilshere, Walcott, Flamini, Welbeck.
-
CHELSEA (4-2-3-1): Courtois; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Fabregas, Matic; Ramires, Oscar, Willian; Hazard.
-
ARSENAL (4-2-3-1): Ospina; Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal; Coquelin, Cazorla; Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez; Giroud.

CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
-
What isn't there to like about this matchup? It's a London derby, both teams are at the top of the table and the managers dislike each other – the scene is perfectly set! The 10-point gap separating them from first and third place is less than ideal from a neutral standpoint, but there's still plenty at stake as these two sides get set to do battle at the Emirates in just under half an hour!
-
