So Sad: Nigerian Pilot, Onadeko Dies in London

Details of the death of reputable Nigerian pilot, Lai Onadeko, who was fondly called The Thriller’ by his friends and associates are still sketchy. But information making the rounds is that Onadeko recently arrived his London home from one of his trips and went to bed, but unfortunately, those he fraternised with the day before expressed shock at his death as he was said to be hale, hearty and full of good cheer. Onadeko who began his career as a pilot with the defunct Nigerian Airways was one of the best pilots out of Nigeria. He was nicknamed The Thriller for his passion for his job which he elevated into an art. Onadeko had a good reputation for perfect take-off and landing of an aircraft, particularly the Airbus.
A patriot, Onadeko was known to turn down offer of employment by other airlines until Nigeria Airways inevitably ceased functioning. His service was snapped up by Qatar Airways. He was in the service of Turkish Airlines at the time of his death.
His colleagues in London put together a befitting memorial to celebrate Onadeko’s life and times at the Hilton London Metropole.
